Raw Material Selection:
We use only unopened, juicy buds of the Sophora japonica flower. Each batch is heavily screened by hand and machine to remove branches, leaves, dirt, bug damage, mould and oxidised materials. Strict rejection of raw materials older than one year, to avoid flavonoid deterioration.
Grade Type:
1. Regular Grade: Standard flower buds for 95% purity manufacture. Suitable for cost efficient formulations.
2. Refined Grade: Premium freshly picked buds pre-screened for pesticides and heavy metals, committed to 98% and 99% high purity criteria.

Solubility & Stability Characteristics
Solubility Profile:
Standard Quercetin: Slightly soluble in hot water and in ethanol; practically insoluble in cold water. Suitable for both capsules and tablets.
Water Soluble Modified: This β-cyclodextrin encapsulated quercetin powder is a water soluble modified form, which quickly dissolves in hot or cold water to form clear solutions for use in beverages, oral liquids and functional drinks.
Stability Factors:
Temperature: Processing temperatures should not exceed 60°C. Oxidation and yellowing occurs after prolonged exposure over 80°C.
pH Range: Most stable between 4.5-7.5. Strong acids or alkalis disrupt the structure of flavonoids.
Light Sensitivity: The dry powder is stable in light-proof, sealed packages. Water solutions have must be protected from light to avoid oxidation.
Moisture: Higher purity grades have lower hygroscopicity. Vacuum packed in aluminium foil, shelf life 24 months unopened.

Production Process
Step 1: Raw Material Pretreatment
Selected flower buds are double screened and dried at the low temperature of 40-45°C. Then materials are pulverised to 20-30 mesh for maximum extraction efficiency.
Step 2: Extraction with water
The raw material is fed into extraction tanks and cleaned water is added. The two-stage high temperature extraction dissolves all flavonoids including rutin The plate and frame filtration removes the solids from the condensed mother liquid.
Step 3: Acid-Base Hydrolysis Conversion
This crucial process transforms rutin into crude quercetin by the exact regulation of pH and temperature. With fine tuning of the parameters one may get full conversion with little contaminants.
Step 4: Crystallisation & Precipitation
The mixture is cooled after hydrolysis and crude quercetin crystallises out. Several layers of filtering to remove polysaccharides, colloids and colours.
Step 5: Recrystallisation Ethanol
The crude quercetin was dissolved in hot ethanol, decoloured with activated charcoal and crystallised at lower temperatures. Purity level depends on number of crystallisation cycles. Purity level after one crystallisation cycle is 95%; purity level after two crystallisation cycles with resin adsorption is 98%; purity level after many gradient crystallisation and chromatographic purification is 99%.
Step 6: Washing & Vacuum Drying
Crystallized product receives multiple washes with purified water and dilute ethanol. Low-temperature vacuum drying under complete light protection prevents oxidation.
Step 7: Water-Soluble Modification (Optional)
High-speed homogenisation and inclusion reaction are used to complex high-purity quercetin with β-cyclodextrin and then spray drying is done on it to form a cold-water-soluble powder.
Step 8: Crushing & Screening
Dried product is milled to customer required particle sizes (80-100 mesh or 200 mesh) and blended well for batch consistency.
Step 9: Pack & Quality Control
Products are packed in light-proof vacuum aluminium foil bags and covered by 25kg cardboard drums. Every batch is tested completely before warehousing and shipping.
